Thomas Richmond, A Printmaking Major in his third year of study, is The Studio's 1st Mural Artist. Friday at 4pm, The Studio unveiled Richmond's mural, The Tradition, at the artist's reception and needless to say, it was a big hit. He captured the essence of our campus and included some of his favorite aspects of the University of Kansas. Richmond included images that he felt every KU student should be familiar with.
Richmond began working on the project in March 2012 and during the course of his work, the major spray paint manufacturer for graffiti artists, Montana Cans and KUDining committed to be official sponsors of the project. The mural contains images of Naismith, a campus view, Potters Lake, the Campanile and the 1912 Jayhawk and the images stayed very true to his sketches. Stop by The Studio to see this masterpiece and tell us what you think!
